Martha Pritchard Spear

Greetings, my name is Martha Pritchard Spear. I am a nonprofit business consultant.

By 30+ years of work experience, I am an expert in non-profit organizations. Most of my work was in education and social impact organizations. As a consultant I have specialized in the arts and education. As a volunteer I choose organizations with broad impact and yet a local focus.

My focus now is helping small, rural non-profits to grow, build relationships, develop their boards of directors, raise more money, find efficiencies and create sustainable plans.

I have lived in the Adirondacks since 2003, landing there after departing from New York City after 9/11/01. Prior to that, I was in Western Massachusetts and Washington, DC, working as a professional fundraiser for a variety of non-profits and serving on non-profit boards. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated with a BA in fine art from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Smith hired me into their fundraising office when I graduated and thus began this career.

In 2015 I began consulting in the North Country. In 2018 I received my MBA from SUNY Oswego. I am a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Placid, among other civic commitments.  I am vice president of a cooperative housing community that is developing here. I have a 16-year-old son whom I am co-parenting with his father.
